I found this beautiful, ruffled fungus growing on a tree in the woods at Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue, Nebraska. It is quite large as you can see by a comparison with the leaves around it. I loved the colors and the rippling edges. I believe it to be a polypore bracket fungi. These organisms play a critical role as wood decomposers in the ecosystem.

Really liked this, Stephen - quite large and just off the boardwalk which made it easy to spot but limited the perspectives (I could not walk around it or get below it, for example). Anyway, I found it beautiful.
